10 Tips for the Bride
  1. Decide on your priorities. How important are your photographs to you? Many couples want nice photos at an inexpensive price. If you’re looking for exceptional photos be prepared to invest accordingly and to shop and reserve your photographer early. Most photographers will be booked 9-18 months in advance- especially during the busy season.
  2. Choose a photographer that you can communicate easily with. Their personality can add to the fun and memories of your wedding day.
  3. Bring a pair of "flats" to the reception. It is usually a long day to spend in shoes that aren't broken-in. If your feet tire, you can switch and no one will be the wiser.
  4. When you're assigning seating arrangements it's a good time to compile a list of special groups or individuals you wish to be photographed. Select a detail-orientated person to keep the list and round up the guests at the appropriate time.
  5. It's rarely a good idea to try a new hairstyle or make-up the day of your wedding. Meet your stylist and wear your hair and makeup for a day of shopping prior to the actual wedding.
  6. Remove any distracting items in the church or reception hall that may be used as backgrounds for photos. Keep your table decorations simple. Tall arrangements block your guest’s view and clutter up pictures of the reception. Mirrors on tables and walls reflect the cameras flash and created ugly reflections in photos.
  7. Tell everyone to be ready 30 minutes prior to the actual start time- you can always count on someone being late.
  8. Arrange your personal appointments (hair, nails etc.) well in advance to secure an early appointment. Also allow generous travel times. SALONS OFTEN RUN LATE. Don't get your day off to a bad start by being late and frantic.
  9. It will be a fun-filled and busy day, don't underestimate the value of a good night's sleep and breakfast. Easy on partying after the Rehearsal Dinner!
  10. Trust your friend’s advice but always ask for referrals when it comes to flowers, photos and catering. The quality of these services will become instilled your memories. So make sure they are good ones.
